Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gives his powerful “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech. He returns to Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel to rest. He reflects on his day with Memphis sanitation workers, fighting for equality and fair wages. Camae, a kind motel maid, arrives with room service and surprising news.
Award-winning playwright Katori Hall brings The Mountaintop back to the stage. Last year’s reading at Curve, Leicester, was a success. Now, Nathan Powell, Creative Director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, directs this full production. Ray Strasser-King plays Dr. King, joined by Justina Kehinde as Camae.
