Let’s turn up the heat!
Summer in Memphis, Tennessee means it’s time for the annual Hot Wing Contest. Cordell aims to win the crown this year. He has the support of his partner Dwayne and friends, Isom and Big Charles. Together, they are The New Wing Order. They’re ready to serve wings fit for royalty.
Cordell and his team prepare to showcase his new, mouth-watering recipe. However, an unexpected guest arrives and adds extra heat to the kitchen. Tensions rise, and challenges emerge.
Now, Cordell risks losing more than just the first-place trophy and cash prize. Can he handle the pressure, or will he have to leave the kitchen?
Kadiff Kirwan stars as Cordell in this lively comedy. It explores themes of family, Black masculinity, sexuality, and the journey to finding home. Katori Hall, known for “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” “The Mountaintop,” and “P-Valley,” brings her Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy to London. Directed by Roy Alexander Weise, the play makes its debut at the National Theatre.
