October Gallery presents Material Sensibilities, a bold exhibition of sculptures, ceramics, and paintings. It features Nnenna Okore, Naomi Wanjiku Gakunga, Susanne Kessler, LR Vandy, Jukhee Kwon, Sokari Douglas Camp, Sylvie Franquet, Xanthe Somers, Theresa Weber, Gaia Ozwyn, and Khadija Jayi.
Artists cut, weave, burn, and embed materials, shaping their unique visions. Nnenna Okore’s Hide blends hand-rolled clay and burlap, exploring transformation. Naomi Wanjiku Gakunga weaves steel wire with acorns. Susanne Kessler reflects on historical cycles. LR Vandy repurposes objects into masks and sculptures.
