UK Black Female Photographers
The FUJIFILM House of Photography in London teams up with UK Black Female Photographers (UKBFGOG) for the “Living the Dream” photography exhibition. Running from March 9 to May 7, it showcases works by 51 artists, highlighting diverse genres such as black photography, identity, heritage, and conceptual photography. This celebration of culture and creativity through the lenses of black female photographers aims to inspire future generations and honor past and present inspirational figures.
Supported by archival pieces from the McKenzie Heritage Collection, the exhibition challenges societal biases by juxtaposing contemporary British life with historical black life in Britain. It seeks to enhance representation and diversity in photography by showcasing the unique perspectives of African American and African female photographers.
Throughout the exhibition, attendees can engage in events offering photography advice and industry insights. These include workshops, portfolio reviews, and masterclasses led by prominent figures like Jade Keshia Gordon. Theo Georghiades, FUJIFILM UK’s general manager, expresses pride in partnering with UK Black Female Photographers to support diverse creative communities and enhance representation in photography.
In essence, the exhibition provides a platform for African American and African female photographers to share their vision, inspire future generations, and promote diversity in the industry. It also serves as a safe space for individuals to explore their dreams and aspirations.
