The Porto-Novo Mask Festival 2025 ran from 2 to 3 August in Porto-Novo. It featured mask processions in neighborhoods like Lokossa, Migan, Abessan, Houngbo, and Dangbé Klunon Honto. These showcased both sacred Vodun masks (such as Zangbèto and Egungun) and popular masks from Benin, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire. On 3 August at 16:00, a grand procession marched along the Boulevard Lagunaire. Each evening, major Beninese artists performed, blending traditional and modern rhythms. A scientific colloquium took place at the École du Patrimoine Africain to explore Vodun’s artistic legacy. The festival village offered artisan stalls and mask-making workshops.
It preserved heritage, strengthened identity, educated, and entertained. It renewed cultural pride in Benin. #PortoNovoMaskFestival #BeninCulture #VodunHeritage #AfricanTraditions #EgungunFestival #ZangbetoMagic #CulturalPride #MaskFestival2025 #DiscoverBenin #AfricanSpirituality #blackjoy #africa #art #africanart #festivaldesmasques #visitbenin #maskfestiva
